‘Club Championships April 2019’

Our defending Men's Club Champion, Darren Nalton, was unable to enter this year due to sustaining an injury in the Over 40's final earlier in the year. This meant the 2019 Club Championships presented an unmissable opportunity for those who had fought and lost in previous years to finally get their name on the Champions board. Following a hugely entertaining and hard fought contest, Dom "the diver" Hill was victorious against Brian "the fox" Duke.

Congratulations to our 2019 Champions and Runners up:

Men’s Club Champion: Dominic Hill

Runner Up: Brian Duke

Ladies Club Champion: Maria Maley

Runner Up: Ellie-May Couhig

Plate Winner: Lee Goldsmith

Runner Up: Simon Etherington

‘Squash Blitz Takes a Hold at Redcar’ – December 2018

The Christmas Blitz is now becoming an annual event in the Redcar Squash Club calendar. This year saw 16 players return to the court to run off their Christmas Dinners (and sore heads) in the hotly contested competition. As with every year the competition was played in great spirit, with some friendly rivalries and family tussles providing great entertainment for those who came down to watch.

The wooden spoons went to: Frances Hockborn, Michael Mawson, Luke Ditchburn and Greg Wass.
Our 2018 champions were: John Dale, Danny Hockborn, Rob Hutchinson and Gary Anderson.

We look forward to the next Christmas Blitz which is currently planned for Friday 27th December!

‘County Closed 2018 – November 2018

The 2019 Durham and Cleveland County Closed was held at Yarm Squash Club this year. A great turnout once again for our Redcar members, with some great results to end the weekend.

Simon Mawson fought off some tough competition to reach the C plate final, however fell at the last hurdle in a toughly contested final against Glen Layfield from Norton. Returning runner up in the C event from last year was our very own Barry "the back wall" Corbyn, who's dogged determination to overcome the disappointment of losing last years final to become 2018 C event champion. Well done Barry!

As always the event provided us with some great sporting moments, with our very own Redcar No1, Danny Hockborn, retaining his County Closed crown for a 2nd consecutive year. Thank you to all those who came down to support.

The 2019 County Closed event will be held at Nunthorpe Squash Club. We hope to see many Redcar entrants again this year.
